She's a Thinker

BigZabba is supposed to be napping. I put her in her room for her nap, told her she could read her books, and then she needed to sleep. 20 or so minutes later I hear her talking & playing. I went to her room and she was playing with her baby doll & puppy from her bed. I told her that this was her one warning..if I came up and saw her playing with her toys when she should be sleeping, I would take the toys out of her bed. "Ok Mommy." Fast forward 30 minutes...I hear talking & playing again. Why isn't she listening? I know that this isn't going to go well. She really does not like it when I have to take her toys from her bed. I go to her room...what is this...she is laying down, she isn't playing with her toys...she is playing with her hands!! They are talking to each other. What do I do now?! I can't very well take her hands away!? I guess technically she was obeying...she wasn't playing with her toys. I just had to laugh. She's a thinker!

I'm Really Doing It!

I just registered for the Saddleback Memorial Half Marathon on May 29. I guess I am really doing it. I think I am crazy.

Too Cute!

My LittleZabba is just too cute! She loves the blanket that ShaSha made for her. She likes to put her fingers through the holes, and then she sucks her thumb through the the blanket. She is too much! How did she get to be so cute!? Those cheeks..I just want to kiss them.

LA Textile Show

I am so excited to be attending the LA Textile Show in April. I can't wait to see all the different fabrics and things that are new for 2007. (Not that I really know that much about what was around in 2006) It will be fun to browse the different manufacturers booths and be able to check out all the new stuff! I will be able to get some of AllyZabba's current fabric, and see what new "Limited Editionz" I can find. Some girlfriends and I will be attending, so it will be like a massive fabric field trip!

The Hot Mamas

Today Lola and I did 5 miles. I felt really good almost the entire time. I am really encouraged today that I just might be able to do this! I know I am not supposed to look at my time, but even still I am happy with how long it look, something like 60 minutes.

Lola and I want to make running shirts. Lola came up with our slogan. We should call ourselves "Hot Mamas". She came up with a slew of one liners that we could have on our shirts..here are some of them:

  • Challenge
  • Set it on fire back- Let it burn
  • My body is my slave
  • pick'em up-put'em down.pick'em up-put'em down.pick'em up-put'em down.pick'em up-put'em down.pick'em up-put'em down.pick'em up-put'em down.pick'em up-put'em down.pick'em up-put'em down
  • My mama can can outrun your mama (kids)
  • I ran 26.2 miles back- What have you ever done?
  • I ran 13.1 miles back- What have you ever done?
  • I'm not afraid of pain, pain's afraid of me
  • run mama, RUN
  • Put it in the bank back- Save it to the end, Pour it on!
Any other "Hot Mamas" out there? Want to join our running group? Challenge!

Ahh Kids..

I got this in an email today and it made me laugh. I don't know if this is true, but it sure makes a funny story. I hope you have a good laugh too.

"Dear Lord," the preacher began with arms extended and a rapturous look on his upturned face, "without you we are but dust..."

He would have continued, but at that moment one very obedient little girl (who was listening carefully) leaned over to her mother and asked quite audibly in her shrill little girl voice,

"Mommy, What is butt dust?"

Church was pretty much over at that point...

I Am So Proud!

Today DaddyZabba and some friends completed the Acura LA Bike Tour. They rode about 22 miles, almost the full length of the LA Marathon, in 1 hour 23 minutes! They arrived at the start line at about 5:30am, stood in the cold (about 43 degrees) and waited with 15,000 other cyclists for the start. They did such a great job!

Almost 7.5 miles..

1 hour, 36 minutes.

I felt pretty good the majority of the time. I am a little sore now, but that will soon go away..I hope! The complaining monster came out a few times, but I am pleased with "performance" today. My running partner/coach/slave driver, whom I will call Lola, is always very encouraging. She always tells me to not look at the time, but the distance. This was the furthest I have ever run, so that is something to be proud of. Next week she is being kind and we are doing 5 miles. I'll let you know how it goes!

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Yesterday BigZabba and her friend were talking...this is how the conversation went...

Friend: You know, we are going to die, and they will put our bones in the ground in a box.
BigZabba: (giggling) no...
Friend: Yeah, but Jesus will give us new bones.
BigZabba: (giggling) no...
Friend: I don't want to die. I like things how they are.
BigZabba: No, it's good to die. Then we get to be with Jesus.
Friend: I don't want to die. I want to live.
BigZabba: It's ok, I'll be with you. Your friends die with you.
Friend: I don't want my bones in the ground.
BigZabba: It's fun to have our bones in the ground. Then dogs will dig up our bones and eat them!

I Will Praise You

“I will praise You. I will praise You.
When the tears fall still I will sing to You.
I will praise You. Jesus praise You.
Through the suffering still I will sing.”

We sang this song in church this morning. Every time we sing it it makes me cry. It makes think of my Mother. It was over two years ago that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Through God's grace she is completly healed and doing wonderful now. But that song makes me think of the many days and weeks that she was not doing so well. Even though she was losing her hair, very sick & weak, she remained so strong and grateful to God for everything that was happening to her. She looked for God in everthing, the chemo, the doctor visits, the sickness. She trusted God and His purpose and plan. My Mother has always been a shining example to me and after having cancer and seeing how she looked to God for her strength I hope that I can show my girls that same "wanting" for Jesus in all circumstances.

I love you Mom.

It's Been A Big Day!

The day started out with my friend and I running almost 6.5 miles. I did an awful lot of complaining about it, but I did it! It took something like 90 minutes to do it, which isn't that great, but at least I did it.
When I got home DaddyZabba told me that we got a big blanket order! We had someone order 4 blankets this morning! Wow! That was really exciting. So, I got busy sewing. Later in the day I checked email, and there was another order! This time it was for 2 blankets! Double Wow! So, I got even busier sewing. The first order is completed, in the wash as I type, and the second is half done. I think I will be able to ship both orders tomorrow. It was a very exciting day.
6 miles and 6 blankets!

Where has your AllyZabba been?

Our AllyZabba (the blanket) has been to Disneyland, Cambria, ShaSha's house, many friend's homes, in the car, in the stroller...where has yours been?

The Wonders of Mr. Clean

Today BigZabba and a friend did some damage to her chalkboard. They decided to use markers on her chalkboard. Needless to say I was not very thrilled with this. They were washable markers so I thought there was a chance that the ever useful baby wipe would get it off, but no. 409 maybe? Nope. So, to BigZabba's dismay her chalkboard was "ruined". When DaddyZabba got home he was also saddened by the "ruined" chalkboard. Then he suggested the magic eraser thing. That was brilliant! (He is a thinker!) So, I got out my Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, and bibbity bobbity boo, it got the marker off the chalkboard! What is in that magic little pad?! Amazing.

Speaking of baby wipes. I am always amazed that they make these little wipeys for the most delicate parts of a baby's body, yet the wipes can clean absolutely everything..the grimest of hands & faces, dirt off shoes, stains off car seats, markers off the floor (but not chalkboards, I tried that)..the list is endless. Those wipes and Mr. Clean..they amaze me.

My Space Ranger

How is it possible that DaddyZabba did better than me on this ride? He was holding LittleZabba and still got nearly 100,000 more points than I did. This just proves my theory that he is good at everything he does!

Look at the concentration on his face. He is determined, motivated, he is not letting the Evil Emperor Zurg win this intergalactic battle!

He is my Space Ranger!

My Little Genius

BigZabba is constantly amazing me. I knew that she could recognize the alphabet & write her own name, but I did not know that she could write all the letters! I was so surprised when she sat down and did it with only a little help. She must get her brains from her Daddy.
