How Did You Learn That?

I have a few friends that live in other countries and I have noticed a trend....they all know how to make stuff! For example, TweedyGirl..she can make tortillas, bread that ends up like english muffins, puddingy cake, brown sugar, & I am sure an assortment of other wonderful things. My friend in PNG, she can make bagels. My friend in Ethiopia she makes absolutely everything! My question is, did you learn to do these things before you went overseas, or did you learn these things out of necessity? I think it would be so great to know how to make all these things from scratch. You ladies are awesome...I am jealous. You get the Laura Ingalls Wilder award!

Fun Times

This weekend we had many things going on. BigZabba was in a wedding, and boy was she beautiful! She did such a great job walking down the aisle and standing with the wedding party. I was concerned whether or not she would be just too shy to do it, but she did great. Her cousing was also in the wedding. When BigZabba got the end of the aisle and saw that her cousing wasn't with her she turned around and said, while motioning with her hand, "Come on!" It was a great time. At the reception BigZabba even danced with the ring bearer, too cute. This picture totally looks like he is proposing!

Then today Lola & I ran in the Saddleback Memorial Half Marathon. Whew! 2 hours 39 minutes. Not too bad. The last 2 miles were particularly tough..I was just plain pooped..and the last little bit was uphill..why do they do that, that is not nice! I even met up with Ms. Nomer near the end of the race! Way to go Ms. Nomer! So I have a medal and a pretty nasty looking toe to show for it. That was my Memorial Day...what did you do!?

Spam!

In case anyone wondered, I turned on word verification for comments because my blog got massively spammed tonight! It was something like 40 unwanted comments, so I am hoping that the word verification will put a stop to it.
Thanks and happy "word verified" commenting...

Girl's Night In

Last night DaddyZabba and some guy friends went to see Ray Romano. I was secretly thrilled that he would be out because then I could work on organizing the linen closet. So after church the Zabba's & I made a run to Target for my favorite items ...... containers! After the girls went to bed I got to work. Organizing is like a "high" for me. I took everything out and stood back to make my plan of attack. This is the finished result. I keep opening the doors to look at it..isn't it beautiful? I will no longer be ashamed to open it in front of others..I may find a need to open it just to "show off" by work of art.

The Blame Game

This afternoon BigZabba spent some time with a friend. When I picked her up I was told that BigZabba had to be talked to about pushing and pulling her friend's hair. So later I talked with BigZabba about what had happened...

Me - Can you tell me what happened today? I was told that you got in trouble.
BZ - Well, I was trying to get her to stop spinning and play with me.
Me - So, what did you do?
BZ - I tried to get her attention.
Me - So, what did you do?
BZ - Mommy I am trying not to tell you because there's a part that's bad.

(At least she is honest!!)

Later, after she admitted that she had pushed her friend and pulled her hair, she started playing the "blame game."

"Mommy, I didn't think I should pull her hair, but my hands did. They said, (she said this part in a really girly high pitched voice) Let's go over there and pull her hair! Mommy, my hands don't think very well."

There's No Time for Fun

This morning BigZabba was "helping" me sew by handing me pins for the blankets. This was our conversation:

"Mommy we have a lot of work to do. We are busy."
"Yes we are. We have a lot of blankets to make."
"There is no time for fun, there is work to be done."
"Where did you hear that?"
"You know Mommy, The Cat in the Hat..the one where he comes back."

My Helper & Lots of Lint!

Today BigZabba was a huge helper. I needed to get dinner ready, and of course, LittleZabba needed to eat. So BigZabba fed her little sister her dinner...as you can see she was thrilled to be able to feed the baby!

I am in the process of getting ready for AllyZabba's first show. It is this Saturday, the 20th, and I am beginning to feel the pressure. I have so many items to sew! Today I made 34 burp cloths, and in the next few days I would like to make 30 TravelZabbas.

Why did I choose to make blankets out of fabric that sheds so much!? My house is covered with terry cloth lint as well as Plushy lint. I find it everywhere...on my clothes, all over the floor, even upstairs and at times in my nose! The sacrifices one makes for soft baby blankets!

BigZabba's Quote of the Day

Since we are running low on all groceries in this house, I have resorted to gatoraid when BigZ wants juice. Today she says, "Mommy, gatoraid is healthy for our brains." I thought that was just too funny.

Food, Glorious Food

LittleZabba has discovered the wonderful world of food! Tonight she had her first taste of rice cereal. BigZabba was so excited to see LittleZabba eat real food. She could hardly contain her enthusiasm. LittleZabba had not idea what was about to happen, but BigZabba was just thrilled!

I didn't know what LittleZabba would do, but she seemed to know exactly what she was supposed to do. She saw the spoon coming, opened her mouth and ate! She started to get really into it, she kept grabbing my hand to put the spoon in her mouth and she would lean forward to get the next bite. She ate the entire bowl! She even cried when I took her out of the chair. LittleZabba has just grown up a little bit.

BigZabba's Stories

Enjoy the stories from the mind of a 3 year old....

The cat didn't have one puppy. And the dog had 18 babies. And the girl walked over to the cat and tried to get the chance over. So they walked and walked until they got to the park. And they loved their children all cuddled and in apart. And I hope all my kids get a good time, the cat said. The End

Dog loved ring around the rosey. So they wanted to play at the park. Cat and Dog wanted to play at the park. So she wanted to go home with her Mommy so she wanted all today she wanted to think and think until the mask show was over. The Mommy she hugged the kid and gave her a tight good good big kiss. The End

Once upon a time there was a little girl who had 2 babies. And she didn't have a Mommy, but she had a Daddy. So she loved the little girly. She laid down in bed whenever she wants her puppy. She got so many dollys, had good manners and watched tv. The Mommy stopped running, and then the Daddy had to go to work. The Daddy worked along time until the story was over. The next day she just got a candy cane. The End.
