More Love Notes

What is a Mom to do with all the precious notes and drawings that are given to her? BigZabba has been writing notes and drawing pictures for me everyday during her quiet play time. They are so precious and wonderful, but what do I do with all of them? I can't bring myself to throw them away, but if this keeps up I will be knee high in notes! Keep in mind that while I do like to keep stuff (I still have my teeth the dentist pulled out when I was little - gross I know), I am not sure what to do with all this. Any thoughts?

Calmness

I am passing this on to you, because it definitely works, and we could all use a little more calmness in our lives. By following simple advice heard on the Dr. Phil Show, you too can find inner peace. Dr. Phil proclaimed, "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started and never finished."

So, I looked around my house to see all the things I had started and hadn't finished, so before leaving the house this morning; I finished off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of Zinfandel, a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream, a bottle of Vodka, a pack of Oreos, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the cheesecake, some Dorito's, and a box of chocolates. You have no idea how FREAKING GOOD I FEEL!!!!!

Well, maybe not really, but it sounds like a good idea. =)

Extreme Double-Dipping

LittleZabba has perfected the art of double-dipping. Not only does each chip get dipped more than once, but in an effort to achieve the ultimate dip-to-chip ratio, she actually licks the dip off each chip until it's gone.

The chip itself is only consumed after it's so soggy from repeated licking that it no longer has the structural integrity to lift the next bite of dip into her mouth.

We don't recommended trying to share your dip with LittleZabba.

Surf's Up on DVD

Surf’s Up is out on DVD (Widescreen Special Edition) this week. The DVD has a lot of special features and I’ve noticed a lot of great reviews:

Detroit News:

Why wasn’t this animated movie about a penguin surfing competition a bigger hit? Maybe the world finally grew tired of penguin movies, which is perfectly understandable; but really, we all should have bailed at “Happy Feet” and come back for this lark.

NewsOk.Com:

“Surf’s Up” got a deal rawer than a penguin’s dinner. The film had the bad luck of being the second computer-generated penguin film in a year, following the inferior but massively successful “Happy Feet. the interview segments evoke the same magical realism among older viewers as Nick Park’s “Creature Comforts” did. “Surf’s Up” is as fun as a day at the beach. And besides, which is more interesting: watching a bunch of birds dancing or watching them hang six on a pipeline?”

And UltimateDisney.com gives a very detailed and favorable review of all the special features.

Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks to DaddyZabba for letting me steal his post.

Try Again

My first attempt at a garden failed misterably. Apparently we (I say we, but really I decided where to put it) placed our planter box in a spot that doesn't get much sun. Ah details details.

So after talking with my expert gardening friend, I created a new plan. Hopefully these, "shade friendly" vegetables will do better. For the curious we planted lettuce, spinach, cabbage, cauliflower, snap peas & chives, and the strawberries from the first attempt are holding their own.

What to do!?

The dentist called today to let me know that BigZabba's dental cleaning had been approved with our insurance so I need to make an appointment to come in. Am I really up to this again? Since last time was such a success I have high hopes that this time will go better. Not.

I really don't know what to do. My Dad, from what I have been told, had similar fears of the dentist as a child. He to this day is anxious about the dentist, although he doesn't kick and scream about it now. I don't want her to have this fear all her life. Will she grow out of it? Will she learn to control it, as my Dad did? I don't think it is all that necessary for her to go to the dentist now. She has great dental hygiene, she even loves to floss. Should I force her to go now and hope that she will one day suddenly love going to the dentist? Or should I just wait until either a) her teeth have problems and she has to go or b) she is old enough to control herself? She is already worked herself into quite a tizzy. She went to bed in tears knowing that I was going to call to make an appointment. She is truly afraid, of what I don't know. Nothing bad has ever happened at the dentist, mostly because she has never completed a visit. It is hard to have a dental exam when you don't open your mouth.

What do I do? I need advice.

Happy Birthday to Me!

This has been a great birthday weekend. It all started Saturday with the second annual Mommy's birthday scavenger hunt. After many clues and several trips up and down the stairs I found my gifts. DaddyZabba took some great photos of plumeria flowers, printed them, and framed them. I have wanted them for so long, and they look great!

Then ShaSha & Papa came for lunch and gave me a beautiful shadow box that had my school pictures, baby shoes, and baby keys in it. They then babysat the girls while we went to Cirque du Soleil. It was fantastic. This morning I was treated to breakfast in bed and my last gift, a GPS system for the car. I am terrible at directions and I get lost a lot, so this will come in handy alot! This afternoon we had lunch with Lola and her family. She gifted me with a few things, but my favorite is a new armband for my Nano. She has heard me complain many times about mine, so I guess this was her way of shutting me up! =)

To top it off, tonight BigZabba and I went to Circus Vargus. What a weekend!

The past year has included:
225.41 miles run
5122 emails received
574 blankets sold
1 new nephew
181 blog posts

Closet Update

Lola asked for an update on the closet. It is 99% done. We only need to fill a few small nail holes, and get a corner desk. It turned out great. Here is a trip down memory lane.. (there are 39 photos, sorry it so long.)

Enjoy!
