Newest Creation

AllyZabba's new summer arrival is now online! The CuddleZabba made its debut yesterday.

We are in the process of getting our "MegaZabba" ready as well. Many customers have requested larger size blankets, so we thought we would give it a try. Enjoy.

Why Do I Bother?

Why do I take the time to make cute burp cloths for LittleZabba? Why have cute ones if they never get burped on? My child will not burp with her mouth toward the cloth. She is so concerned about missing out on something exciting that she is always looking out...which then means, the spit-up not only goes all down her front but mine too. It never fails.. clean outfit = the sudden urge to spit up...just had a bath = time to spit up. So maybe I should just swear off burp cloths. It all ends up the same anyway. If I have one perched on my shoulder ready to catch the spit, she turns her head at the last second and bam there it is all over both of us. If I don't have the cloth it is the same scenario. I should know by now that motherhood is not glamerous..that is obvious since I smell of baby vomit daily.

Surprises

There were many surprises today..

  • LittleZabba had her 6 month check up today. She weighs in at a hearty 15 lb. 6 oz. She is in the 45th percentile for weight. That surprised me only because BigZabba was in the 95th percentile each time we went to the doctor. At 6 months BigZabba was 16 lb. 9 oz.
  • Tonight when I was trying to do 10 things at the same time I was surprised with the "helpfulness" of BigZabba. LittleZabba was not happy about her green beans tonight and she just would not stop crying about eating them. So I put the bowl down and continued with making dinner and decided to try again in a few minutes. Well walking away did not help the situation. Without a word BigZabba picked up the bowl and started to feed LittleZabba. The crying stopped and she ate without complaint. I guess she was just tired of seeing my mug in front of her face!
  • I am not the most creative when it comes to cooking. So tonight when that time once again rolled around to figure out what to make for dinner I thought I would get out a cookbook and see if anything inspired me. I actually found a recipe that I had all the ingredients for, it sounded good, so I gave it a shot. It was so yummy, surprisingly! So, if you are in need of a good recipe that is fast and surprisingly healthy, this is it..
Lemon Pepper Salmon Fillet
(serve with brown rice & broccoli)
Ingredients: 2 tbsp. fat free mayo, 1 tsp. lemon pepper seasoning, 2 lemons, salmon fillet(s), green onion, parsley.
Directions: Prepare brown rice, while rice is cooking preheat broiler. In a small bowl comind the fat free mayo, lemon-pepper seasoning, and lemon juice from 1 lemon. Lightly coat broiler pan with cooking spray. Place fillets on the broiler pan (skin side down) and brush sauce over the top. Broil salmon approx. 6 inches from broiler until the fillets are cooked throughout and flake easily with a fork. (about 12-15 minutes) While the salmon is broiling, steam the broccoli until crisp tender. Stir green onion and parsley into the cooked rice. Serve salmon with rice and broccoli, top salmon and broccoli with a squeeze of fresh lemon. Enjoy!

I hope that you find delightful surprises in your day too!

My Friend Polly

I would like to introduce you to my friend Polly & her pals. We spend a lot of time together each day. But I must admit that I don't know the friends names..are they all Polly?

I am so envious of their collection of shoes. They have such style!

I think that Polly is the greatest & the worst invention ever. BigZabba loves them, but she also asks many times each day.....
"Mommy, would you like to play Polly Pockets with me?" There is only so much of Polly I can take in one day.

Does it end?

The world of siblings has opened up a whole new aspect of parenting...many more germs! The last week has been full of one thing or another. BigZabba started it all with the stomach flu & high fever, then LittleZabba got a high fever and a sour stomach, now she has roseola, and I feel a twinge of yucky stomach myself. Will we ever be healthy again?

The Visitor

My blog is turning into a commentary on the life of my kids....

Because of Mommy responsibilities my shower this morning happened much later that I would have liked. While I was in the shower BigZabba comes running in my room, "Mommy, somebody rang the doorbell!" This is very exciting to her because she loves visitors. I told her that we couldn't get the door, and if they really needed us they would wait, leave a note or come back. She was very upset about this, but said, "Ok Mommy."

My shower continued, I heard talking...who is BigZabba talking to?

She came back in the room and I asked her, "Who were you talking to?"

BZ - "The person at the door."
Me - "How were you talking to them?"
BZ - "Through the window."
Me - "What did you say?"
BZ - "I said, 'Excuse me, sorry, my Mom is in the shower right now."
Me - "What did they say?"
BZ - "They said, 'Oh, ok , thanks,'"

I can just imagine this sales person standing at the door, and then a little kid yells down at them from a window that Mom is in the shower. I hope they got a chuckle out of it!

The Busy Boy

At naptime this was BigZabba's prayer:

"Jesus food, thank you for my fun day I had tonight. Thanks about Mommy's toe to feel better, thanks about LittleZabba to feel better, thanks that my toe will feel better. Jesus food, Amen."

Backstory - She always starts and ends prayers with 'Jesus food'. I think it is a combination of Dear Jesus and thank you for this food. LZ has a little fever today, so she was praying for her sister, and she hurt her toe just before her nap.

After her prayer I said, "That was a very sweet prayer, I am sure Jesus will help your toe feel better."

Her response, "I prayed for your toe too, and for LittleZabba to feel better. Mommy, Jesus is a busy boy!"

We Should Better

Anytime BigZabba wants to do something her phrase of choice is "We should better.."

examples:
-We should better talk about skating.
-We should better hurry up.
-We should better call Daddy.

Maybe she will start a trend.

The Counselor

This morning DaddyZabba and I were talking about something and not agreeing with each other, so we ended the conversation abruptly, not angrily. BigZabba then says to me,

"Mommy, when Daddy is trying to tell you something you should listen to him and talk to him about it."

Thank you Thank you Sam I Am

The last few days have been rough around here. BigZabba somehow ended up with the stomach flu, so that put all plans on hold. Just when I thought she was getting over it her fever would spike again, and she would start to (as she calls it) "spit" again. So much to my surprise, especially after another round of "spitting" this morning, this is what she wanted for breakfast...
Gotta love green eggs & ham, or bacon in this case! BigZabba has felt great ever since. Eating eggs after the stomach flu is a big risk..It worked out for us this time. She said, "Mommy, my tummy must have needed those green eggs. It feels good now."

No Real News

Life here in Zabbaland has been pretty easy going the last week or so. There isn't much to report, but I was just checking in with all the fans to let everyone know I am still around. I hope that everyone is doing well.

Random Comment

During an unusually quiet car ride home, out of the blue BigZabba says,
"Mommy, I wish I had horns."
